Rory Mitchell Wow...just wow. Terrific album. I liked it on the first listen, and loved it by the second. Incredibly lucky find. All players are prolific (keys, guitars, drums), and orchestration/song structure is light years beyond what I would expect from a debut album. Highly recommended. Favorite track: Manifest Destiny.

about

"We have it in our power to begin the world over again. The birth of a new world is at hand..."

Meridian saw its genesis in 2010, when Charlie Martens and Vikram Shankar came together with the desire to create epic melodic death metal music together. They soon added Steven Meisler on drums and Luke Fakult on bass, forming the first complete lineup of Meridian. When Nate Fakult joined the band as drummer to allow Steven to switch to keyboards, the band's sound began to take on a new, symphonic, epic element. The two Fakult brothers added their affinity for progressive rock and metal to the mix, genres that already were a key part of Vikram's musical background. Gradually, the signature and unique Meridian sound was forged: a melodic death metal essence, combined with the complex and creative approach of progressive metal, the grandiosity and majesty of symphonic metal, and the melodic sensibilities of epic folk metal, all the while remaining instrumental.

Three years later, Meridian is proud to present their debut full-length record, 'Manifest Destiny.' 'Manifest Destiny' manages to sum up the band's incredibly diverse range of styles and influences in one seven-track record. The band explores symphonic and epic elements, hard-hitting and heavy progressive power metal that occasionally wanders into death metal territory, lush and ambient soundscapes, and folksy acoustic passages. At forty-five minutes in duration, 'Manifest Destiny' is a true musical odyssey. Download now, and fulfill your destiny!
